G7: £33,699 - £38,220 + 10% unsociable hours payment per annum. Fixed term contract until the end of March 2026. Walsall Service for Adolescents.

Our Walsall Right 4 Children programme, driving the delivery of our Children’s Services vision, is aimed at ensuring the right children are in the right place with the right support for as long as it is needed so they are safe from harm, happy and learning well. Turning Point is a specialist Service for Adolescents that has been developed to provide an effective response to young people who have complex needs and are at risk of family breakdown. The Service supports adolescents aged 8-18 and focuses on intensive work with young people and their families supporting family strengths and relationships, challenging and disrupting harm to children in and outside of the family home. We have a strong core belief in the development of assets, capability and community in the lives of young people, building both individual and social resilience.

The delivery model for the Service for Adolescents: We will be delivering our service through the Ambit model, with Mentalisation as the core way of working in the service. We are a multi-disciplinary Team that consists of hub workers and clinical specialists, including Speech and Language Therapists.


Responsibilities

* To lead on the development of and coordination of the Turning Point Service positive activities pathway.
* To supervise and coordinate the duties of the Positive Activities Assistant.
* To develop a range of inclusive positive activities for young people and families, to support in the rebuilding of fractured relationships.
* To coordinate generic adolescent support hub workers to support during activities and to ensure the safe transportation of young people to and from activities.
* To lead on completing bids and funding applications in addition to the Holiday activities and food scheme (HAF) offer to financially support the offer of positive activities for families.
* To formulate a directory of resources so that families can access free positive activities in their locality.
* With the support of the allocated adolescent support hub workers, complete risk assessments for group activities and to attend meetings and contribute to reports when required.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English. Walsall Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children, young people entrusted to our care, and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children and young people.

Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas.

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements: Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
