An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a consultant dermatologist in Worcestershire, re-establishing an NHS dermatology department. We aim to rebuild this into a centre of excellence serving Worcestershire with high-quality, sustainable services. The department, although based in Worcestershire, will be managed by the Wye Valley NHS Trust in Hereford, which has a successful track record, including the BMJ Dermatology Team of the Year award 2021.
Specialty interests are encouraged, including inflammatory dermatoses, patch testing, phototherapy, Mohs surgery, and paediatric dermatology. We welcome enthusiastic clinicians passionate about delivering excellent, safe, and equitable care.
Main duties of the job
Opportunities for a consultant dermatologist to work in Worcestershire as part of an ICS-wide service under Wye Valley NHS Trust. Candidates with general skills and experience, and those interested in developing subspecialty interests, are encouraged to apply. The role involves leading a dedicated dermatology team, managing skin cancer, inflammatory dermatoses, and utilizing facilities for Mohs surgery, phototherapy, biological therapies, and patch testing. Teledermatology and collaboration with primary care, including AI integration, are integral to the role. The service development aligns with 'Getting It Right First Time' (GIRFT) objectives.

Job description
We seek full-time Consultants in Dermatology (10 PAs each) to support general dermatology and skin oncology services. The department will be led by Wye Valley, which will also oversee the Worcestershire service, with local clinical leadership developing over time. Refer to the attached job description and person specification for detailed responsibilities.
Person Specification
Professional Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
* On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining Specialist Registration in Dermatology at interview
* MRCP or equivalent
Clinical Experience, Skills and Knowledge
* Proven experience in general dermatology
* Willingness to use Teledermatology
* Practical skills aligned with the role
* Broad knowledge of all aspects of Dermatology
Audit Management & IT
* Evidence of robust clinical audit practice
* Experience in clinical management
* Ability to use Teledermatology platforms after training
Teaching skill & experience
* Commitment and training in medical education
* Ability to teach in clinical settings
* Experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
