Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a long-standing Glasgow based client who is looking to add an Assistant Management Accountant to their existing team. Job Purpose:
To provide support to the Management Accountant and Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly financial accounts and to ensure timely, accurate, and well-maintained balance sheet reconciliations.
Key Accountabilities:
* Collaborate with the Management Accountant and Senior Management Accountant to meet departmental deadlines and performance targets
* Prepare and post month-end journals within required timelines
* Process and reconcile accruals and prepayments accurately
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and post depreciation entries
* Perform month-end coding and classification of Profit & Loss transactions
* Review and verify costs, and prepare relevant sections of the management accounts
* Reconcile key balance sheet accounts and ensure integrity of financial data
* Manage and control Work in Progress (WIP) balance sheet accounts
* Coordinate with operational managers/customers to ensure timely WIP submission, approval, and billing
* Provide timely responses and financial analysis to operational teams as required
* Support the preparation of audit files and assist external auditors during fieldwork
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Prior experience in a finance environment is desirable but not essential; a strong interest in finance is required
* Actively studying towards a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, AAT, CIMA) or educated to Degree, HNC, or HND level (or equivalent)
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
* High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong overall IT skills
