Overview
Assistant Project Manager role to support the delivery of pollution Action Plans and Asset Risk Management (ARM) schemes within the Wastewater Infrastructure team. You’ll help ensure projects are well-planned, meet governance standards, and are delivered on time. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, coordinating across teams, and driving continuous improvement.

Location: Falmer, Durrington, or Chatham (travel required) • Salary: £40,000
Key Responsibilities
* Support project planning, coordination, and delivery of pollution and ARM schemes.
* Ensure projects follow governance processes and meet quality standards.
* Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and the Environment Agency.
* Monitor project risks, budgets, and timelines.
* Produce clear, persuasive documentation and reports.
* Attend performance and planning meetings to support project progress.
* Help identify and solve operational issues, especially at pumping stations.
Knowledge & Experience
* Strong understanding of project management best practices.
* Experience working with contractors and producing scopes of work.
* Familiarity with pumping stations and wastewater operations is essential.
Skills
* Excellent planning, scheduling, and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in MS Project and other IT tools.
* Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Package
This role will be full time Monday to Friday 37 hours a week. Southern Water operate a hybrid approach to working between our Falmer office and home.
