This is an exciting opportunity to join our existing team in the Neurosciences Directorate at UHNM.
Main duties of the job
This exciting opportunity will involve working at both the University Hospital of North Midlands covering all areas of stroke care, including hyper‑acute stroke care, post‑stroke care and stroke rehabilitation.
About us
University Hospitals of North Midlands has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke‑on‑Trent, and County Hospital, located in Stafford. From these hospitals we provide a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust also provides specialised services for three million people in a wider area, including neighbouring counties and North Wales.
Our specialised services include cancer diagnosis and treatment, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, renal and dialysis services, neonatal intensive care and paediatric intensive care. We are recognised for our particular expertise in trauma, respiratory conditions, spinal surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, complex orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery and the management of liver conditions. The Trust has some of the most modern operating theatres in Europe.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* MRCP (or equivalent)
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for stroke unit care.
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following:
o a. Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
o b. Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) application submitted, with evidence provided, and at an advanced stage with outcome expected within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 3 to 6 months), including where delays are due to GMC processes
o c. European Community Rights
* CCT in Stroke Medicine
* MD, PhD
Clinical Experience & Training
* Sub‑speciality training in Stroke medicine
* Experience in assessing patients for thrombolysis/thrombectomy in Hyper Acute Ischaemic Stroke
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems within specialty
* Good writing and presentation skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
* Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures
* Willingness to develop an area of special interest to fit in with current establishment and service needs
* Comprehensive training appropriate to this post
* Experience of undergraduate teaching
* Recognised teaching skills course/ medical education qualification Exposure to a variety of working environments
Academic Achievements, Research, Publications
* Experience of conducting clinical audit.
* Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision‑making.
* Publications in peer‑reviewed journals
Management and Administrative Experience
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.

* Ability to plan strategically and to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
