Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a passionate and motivated Senior Support Worker to join our established team at Simonside Court based in South Tyneside. This service provides quality person‑centred care and support to thirteen individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and additional mental health support needs, enabling them to live exciting and independent lives.
Salary: Up to £12.40 per hour
Location: South Shields, South Tyneside
Employment: Full‑time (requires evening and weekend work)

Responsibilities
* Supervise, manage and mentor a team of staff.
* Develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with service users.
* Encourage service users to engage in a range of exciting social activities, both within and outside their homes.
* Provide personal care, administer medication and work lone‑working safely.
* Support staff deployment and rotas; work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.
* Work closely with local multidisciplinary teams and community‑based agencies to provide holistic, wrap‑around support.
* Facilitate service user engagement, involvement and peer support.
* Ensure robust quality monitoring methods are in place.
You will provide excellent customer care and proactively communicate with stakeholders regarding risk management, care and welfare of the people we support. You will have a strong ethical duty of care and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
Qualifications
* Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs.
* Experience in supervising/managing staff and resources.
* Relevant health and social care qualification (Degree or NVQ Level 3/4/5) or willingness to work toward one.
* Full DBS and current health checks.
