Locum Consultant in Spinal Rehabilitation

Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Spinal Rehabilitation, to help develop and support existing spinal rehabilitation services within the purpose-built Centre for Specialist Spinal and Neuro Rehabilitation at the University Hospital Llandough.
A motivated and enthusiastic colleague is required to join the current team of five rehabilitation Consultants (across both Spinal and Neuro Rehabilitation) and experienced MDT; applicants should have at least two years postgraduate training in spinal rehabilitation. This locum post is available for a period of 12 months.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should preferably either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within three months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
Main duties of the job
The specialist Spinal Rehabilitation Unit provides care for adults from a wide geographical area, including South and Mid Wales, and the postholder will be expected to provide medical support to the inpatients on Ward West 8, run weekly outpatient clinics and also support the newly-established Spinal Outreach MDT.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice
* On GMC Specialist Register for Rehabilitation Medicine / Neurology
* An appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent
Experience
* Four years full‑time postgraduate training (or part‑time equivalent), at least two years in Spinal Rehabilitation
* Ventilatory and experience of service development
Skills
* Evidence of effective team and multidisciplinary working
* Effective and demonstrable communication skills
* Up to date with current practices in spinal cord rehabilitation
* Ability to take independent clinical decisions
