Assistant Gardener - Richmond-upon-Thames Summary Important notice In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy. As Assistant Gardener, you’ll be working with a team to deliver the day-to-day care of our 17th century inspired garden and maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects. This is a part time position. 22.5hrs a week between Monday - Friday. Our working hours are 7.30am-4pm Monday - Thursday and 7.30-1pm on Fridays so your hours will fit within these and will ideally start in the morning as we do most of the noisy work before the property opens at 10am. The salary is 16,906.50 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting (Full time equivalent would be 28,177.50, inclusive of London Weighting) For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. What it's like to work here In this role, you’ll report to the Head Gardener and work alongside two gardeners. What you'll be doing Daily responsibilities will include assisting with hedge cutting and lawn mowing, maintaining mixed borders, and gravel paths. You’ll work alongside gardeners and a team of volunteers. You’ll talk to the visitors, answering a variety of garden-related questions. We’re looking for someone with a practical approach to work, and an interest in plants. The role can be physically challenging, and we use a wide range of machinery and equipment to help us get our work done. The use of machinery hedge and grass trimmers, pedestrian and ride on mowers is essential, but training will be provided. You need a full driving licence and to be prepared to work in all weathers.
