The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering electrical projects within manufacturing, factory, and commercial environments. The role focuses on factory infrastructure upgrades, electrical installations, reliability improvements, maintenance optimisation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will lead projects from concept through to handover, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and with minimal disruption to production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Lead electrical projects covering installations, upgrades, refurbishments, and improvements across manufacturing and commercial sites.
* Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
* Coordinate internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely execution.
* Conduct risk assessments and manage safe systems of work (e.g., permits to work, lockout/tagout).
* Monitor project progress and take corrective action where required.
* Produce project reports, documentation, and handover packages.
Technical & Engineering Oversight
* Ensure all electrical works meet relevant standards (e.g., BS 7671, IEC regulations, local electrical codes).
* Oversee design reviews, technical drawings, and specification documentation.
* Support maintenance and reliability teams with electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives for electrical systems and equipment performance.
Safety & Compliance
* Ensure adherence to statutory, regulatory, and safety standards.
* Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.
* Ensure project activities align with environmental and operational policies.
Stakeholder Engagement
* Liaise with production, engineering, H&S, and senior management to align project work with business priorities.
* Communicate project updates clearly to all stakeholders.
* Manage contractor performance and ensure quality standards are met.
Budget & Procurement Management
* Prepare and manage project budgets and financial forecasts.
* Obtain quotes, evaluate proposals, and select suppliers/contractors.
* Control project costs and ensure value for money.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience delivering electrical projects in manufacturing, industrial, or commercial environments.
* Strong working knowledge of electrical regulations and standards.
* Experience managing contractors and external suppliers.
* Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk.
* Strong understanding of health & safety requirements (e.g., PUWER, EAW, permit systems).
* Chartered or working toward chartership (IEng/CEng).
* Experience within a high-volume manufacturing or process industry.
* Knowledge of automation, controls, or industrial power systems.
