We’re Hiring: Operations Manager (Hands-On Manufacturing Leadership) Essex / Hertfordshire (split-site role) I’m currently supporting an innovative, growing engineering and manufacturing business who are looking to bring in a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee production across two UK sites. This is a key hire for the business, working closely with the Managing Director and taking ownership of day-to-day operations, with real influence across production, quality, and overall business performance. This is not a corporate role, we’re looking for someone who has come from the shop floor and enjoys being close to the detail. Key Responsibilities: Oversee manufacturing operations across two sites Lead production planning, ensuring on-time delivery and high-quality output Drive continuous improvement across processes, workflow, and efficiency Manage stock control, supply chain coordination, and operational KPIs Work closely with quality to maintain and improve QMS and compliance standards Lead, coach, and develop a small, close-knit team Support broader business decisions including budgeting, investment, and planning ✅ What We’re Looking For: Proven experience in a hands-on operations / production / manufacturing leadership role Background in engineering or machining (CNC, precision engineering, or similar highly desirable) Experience working within SME environments (comfortable wearing multiple hats) Strong understanding of workshop environments and production processes Exposure to CAD / technical drawings is beneficial Knowledge of quality systems, audits, and health & safety Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, low-ego mindset Why This Role?
