Job Summary
These posts are for a trust doctor to support the Medical teams on a Fixed Term contract. This is a full‑time post and the post holder will participate in the medicine on‑call rota, currently on a 1 in 15 basis. The Trust operates two acute sites; most acute medical services and specialties are duplicated on each site. The acute stroke unit is based at Calderdale Hospital and specialist gastroenterology, oncology and haematology wards are based at Huddersfield.
There are opportunities to work in Acute Medicine, Elderly Medicine and Diabetes & Endocrinology. Details of each post will be available at interview and doctors will be accommodated with individual choices where possible.
Main Duties
* Weekly Medical Grand Rounds, teaching including journal club and core medical teaching sessions in the Education Centre.
* Non‑technical skills training (handover, communication); use of simulation mannequins for procedures such as chest drain insertion and central venous cannulation.
* Support for doctor’s MRCP and PACES preparation and sign‑off of competencies for higher training.
* Participation in the on‑call rota (negotiable).
Qualifications
* MRCP (both parts) or equivalent.
* Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise.
* For UK positions – eligibility to work in the UK and a current UK professional registration.
Desirable Qualifications
* Relevant higher degree.
* Understanding of current issues within Medicine and the NHS.
* Attendance at a recognised management or teaching course.
* Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non‑medical staff.
* Academic achievements or familiarity with research methods and evidence of publications.
* Training in clinical and educational supervision.
* Formal qualification in teaching/education.
* Knowledge of audit principles and participation in audit projects; critical appraisal skills.
Experience and Achievements
* High level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Medicine specialty.
Disposition
* Good communication, empathy and teamwork skills.
* Ability to manage high‑pressure clinical situations and prioritise workload.
* Willingness to work flexibly across multiple locations within the Trust.
General Requirements
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Ability to work in various locations across the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust network.
* For areas requiring EPP clearance, health screening will be required.
* Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
Salary & Contract
Fixed‑term, 12‑month contract. Full‑time. Salary £65,048 – £73,992 per annum, depending on experience.
