We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH College Centre in Kirkham for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs while benefiting from a consistent part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
Support learners to re-engage with education, routines, and emotional regulation
Assist teaching staff with lesson delivery and differentiated activities
Apply positive behaviour support and de‑escalation strategies
Support students both academically and emotionally
Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environmentRequirements
Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
(schools, colleges, PRUs, care, youth work, or similar settings)
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider support team
TA qualification desirable but not essential
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)What We Offer
