Autism Specialist SEND Support | Year 1 ARP | Westerhope | Immediate Start
Location: Cheviot, Newcastle
Start Date: Immediate
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE, weekly pay + free Thrive training)
A Primary School in Westerhope are seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant with strong autism experience to join their Additional Resource Provision (ARP). This role is focused on working with a small group of Year 1 children with autism and additional needs, providing 1:1 and small group support in a structured, nurturing environment.
You will be working with a team who are known for their friendly, helpful and welcoming manner.
What you’ll be doing:
* Providing consistent, calm, and patient support to Year 1 children with autism in the ARP
* Supporting communication through visual aids, structured routines, and tailored strategies
* Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver EHCP targets
* Helping children regulate emotions, develop independence, and build confidence
* Creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment where every child feels valued
About you:
* Experience supporting children with autism (essential)
* Confident using strategies to support communication and behaviour regulation
* Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
* Flexible and proactive, with a strong commitment to inclusion
* Available immediately and able to commit full-time
* You have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service
