Are you a VAT expert looking to work for a highly complex and ever-evolving organisation?
The Senior Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with VAT and Corporation Tax reporting requirements in the UK and overseas where applicable.
This role involves developing a tax strategy, reviewing major projects' tax implications, and maximising VAT (and tax) reliefs and exemptions where available.
The key responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring the timely and accurate submission of VAT returns for Imperial and its subsidiaries.
2. Designing and implementing the VAT strategy for Imperial.
3. Reviewing procedures and implementing innovative solutions to minimise VAT costs.
4. Handling VAT queries from various parts of Imperial and ensuring timely resolution.
5. Collaborating with system teams to ensure Oracle Fusion processes VAT correctly on all transactions.
6. Working with the Global Mobility Team and other departments to address overseas tax issues.
7. Coordinating with Payroll and HR on related tax filings and negotiations with HMRC.
8. Ensuring correct and timely filing of annual corporate tax returns for Imperial and subsidiaries.
9. Advising on overseas withholding tax and import duties.
10. Managing CIS queries and submissions where relevant.
11. Engaging with and educating the university on VAT matters and ensuring proper VAT return submissions.
12. Assessing tax implications of major business developments and minimising liabilities, working with external advisors as needed.
13. Maintaining professional relationships with HM Revenue and Customs, including leading negotiations.
We are looking for someone who:
* Holds a Tax Qualification (CTA) or is qualified by experience.
* Holds an Accounting Qualification or is qualified by experience.
* Has experience filing VAT returns for large organisations, preferably in higher education.
* Has experience with payroll taxes, corporation tax, VAT, and overseas taxes.
* Knows how to file VAT returns, including Capital Goods Scheme and Annual Adjustments.
