Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker – Apple Orchard
Location
Guildford, Surrey (rural home setting)
Salary
Starting salary £30,223.16, potential to earn up to £31,903.16. After probation: £31,555.60 base, potential up to £33,235.60.
Hours
Approx. 40 hours per week, shift pattern with nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep‑in duties. One sleep‑in per week. Shift work with every other weekend off.
Job Summary
Lead and support a team of residential support workers to provide high‑quality care for young people aged 12‑18 years, ensuring adherence to legislation, policies and Ofsted guidance.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of support workers, ensuring staff comply with policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
* Plan and prepare activities that meet the young people's needs, stimulate learning and integration.
* Maintain clear, legible records, including life books and care plans.
* Support and guide young people towards independence and adulthood.
* Ensure basic needs and welfare of the children are met to the highest standard.
* Maintain safety and security in the home and support staff in emergencies.
* Implement good practice in safeguarding and child protection.
* Ensure compliance with Children Act, Children Homes Regulations and national minimum standards.
* Observe and assess young people's progress and report to the Registered Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
* Hold NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or willingness to work towards the required qualification.
* Previous experience working with teenage boys or challenging behaviour.
* Willingness to further develop skills and work within a rural context.
* Valid UK manual driving licence and access to a vehicle (public transport impractical).
