GLL are seeking a fantastic multi-tasker to work within our ‘Better’ Community Nursery setting at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre in the Borough of Barnet.

As a full time Nursery Practitioner, you will contribute to providing a safe, stimulating, educational and fun environment for children. As a Nursery Practitioner you will be promoting the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of children under 5 years old through sensitive individual planning of each child’s changing needs whilst encouraging their development and independence. Our Practitioners have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll work with colleagues and partners to ensure our Children’s Centre services are enjoyed and accessible to our local families with young children.

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will need experience of working with children under five years of age and their families and a L3 Childcare qualification is required. You will work within the EYFS framework and principles plus safeguarding issues; procedures and an understanding of equality and diversity issues would be essential in this role. It goes without saying you’ll be a confident team member with a positive attitude and driven approach.

What you’ll do:

1. You will support and develop warm relationships with children and families that support a child’s learning and development, so that each child benefits from the shared interest in and knowledge about their progress.

2. To support and value each child’s home culture and language. To contribute to planning for children with English as an additional language to help their language development.

3. To contribute towards the provision and sustainability of a stimulating, secure, caring and learning environment that promotes equal opportunities and diversity for the children, and their parents, families and carers.

What you need:

4. NVQ Level 3 in Child Development or equivalent

5. Experience of Working with under- fives.

6. Experience of planning and supporting play provision supported by evidence-based approaches outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

7. Knowledge of EYFS and understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures.

8. Understanding of the Ofsted Children’s Centre requirements/frameworks.

9. Knowledge and understanding of working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds, provision for disabled children and those with special needs

10. Knowledge of current relevant statutes, regulations, legislation, guidance and codes of practice as they effect the operation and delivery of a holistic support service for very young children and families.

11. A good knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues.
