With a culture built on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, Lakes College is seeking a motivated and committed Deputy Head of Electrical & Instrumentation to join its Lakes Nuclear Team.
This is a key leadership position where you will support the delivery of high-quality engineering apprenticeship programmes up to Level 3, ensuring outstanding outcomes for both learners and employers.
You will play a pivotal role in leading staff, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement across the department.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate, and develop staff, supporting performance and progression
* Oversee training quality, learner progress, and curriculum delivery
* Support the Head of Training & Education – Nuclear Skills in programme development
* Contribute to self-assessment reports (SAR) and quality improvement plans
* Assist with staff timetabling and effective resource allocation
* Promote a strong culture of continuous improvement and accountability
* Deputise for the Head of Department when required
What You Must Bring
* Minimum of three years’ engineering experience in industry within an Electrical discipline.
* Strong technical competence in electrical engineering
* Level 3 qualification in Engineering (minimum)
* Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
* Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving ability
* Ability to lead, collaborate, and maintain high professional standards
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Experience delivering or developing Electrical Engineering training/apprenticeships
* Understanding of apprenticeship frameworks and funding models
* Experience in training needs analysis and programme design
* Assessor or teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
* Intermediate MS Office skills
