The Asset Delivery PMO is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. In AMP8 Asset Delivery PMO will support a multi-billion-pound programme of capital investment across YWs clean and wastewater assets. The Capital Programme is growing by over 50% as we move into AMP8. The Assurance and Controls Manager will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the portfolio by leading a team of Assurance, Planning and Controls specialists. They will have a fantastic opportunity to set future direction for Project Controls to meet the demands of the programme. They will be responsible for providing the services to ensure the multibillion programme of capital investment can perform at its best. They will own the end-to-end delivery processes, quality assurance and adherence. They will provide standards, support, advice and expertise in governance, assurance, planning and cost controls. They will manage stakeholders at all levels. Where you fit in: As our Assurance and Controls Manager you will: Lead on maturing and assuring the integrated project controls function (schedule, cost, change and progress measurement) for all parts of Asset Capital Programme Own the end-to-end process for Capital Delivery including the setting of governance expectations for investment management, gateway controls and integrated assurance Oversee the development of processes, policies and procedures to ensure project governance standards are met Be responsible for the Project controls and planning service, owning the master schedule and setting the standards by which schedules will be created. This will include working closely with Partner organisations and leveraging best practice across the delivery function Be a driver of change, always seeking better ways to govern and assure processes for efficiency, working closely with the continuous improvement team to drive process maturity where efficiency can be sought Be a key part of the PMO Senior Leadership Team, driving PMO maturity into AMP8 and beyond Work closely with colleagues across the Asset Delivery Directorate and with Finance, Commercial and Regulation to service planning, controls and assurance needs Be responsible for quality management, reporting on adherence to process and non-conformance audits on critical processes Oversee health checks, project assurance reviews and a robust rhythm of project controls to fulfil 2nd line assurance responsibilities Be a trusted advisor to the Head of PMO providing candid feedback and analysis to assist with decision making and strategy. What skills & qualifications you will need: Youll need to be an experienced senior manager with the ability to communicate effectively at Senior levels and with experience of leadership within a PMO environment Excellent people leadership skills Knowledge of Project Management skills and techniques Knowledge of Risk Management in a delivery context Driven and passionate about programme performance and associated process improvement Ability to manage a diverse group of people with varying skills sets, providing direction, development and influence for the delivery of high-quality outcomes Ability to create an inclusive environment and change behaviours Ability to influence and drive change throughout the Asset Capital Programme value chain (outside and inside Asset Delivery) Ability to create excellent working relationships (both internally and externally) to facilitate cross departmental and cross organisational working Proven ability of managing, implementing, and embedding process improvements Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences You will also benefit from having: Experience of working in a regulated environment Experience of working in construction or large capital programme Experience of working with Primavera P6 (or equivalent planning tools) Experience of implementing Earned Value Management (or equivalent) Experience of leading a Quality Management System in a PMO/Programme Delivery environment Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, its important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life.
