We know that for some students, a busy classroom can feel like a hurdle. As our One-to-One Maths Tutor, you are the bridge. You will provide the focused, calm, and encouraging environment that allows a student to finally say, "I get it now". You won’t be working in isolation. You’ll join a vibrant department of 8 teachers who are a mix of experts and new to the profession, all backed by the incredible strategic support of our Trust’s Maths School Improvement Partners. The department has created a rich and engaging curriculum which has deep roots in teaching for understanding. Our curriculum is differentiated by depth, ensuring all students build firm foundations, develop confidence and retain their learning.
We are seeking candidates with secure knowledge of the secondary Maths curriculum, with the ability to deliver knowledge and skills to small groups and on a one to one basis. With good knowledge One to One tutors will rapidly accelerate students' understanding that will support them in more regular lessons. The successful applicant will put the needs of young people first, have a passion for learning, excellent interpersonal skills and will be both ICT and emotionally literate. Tutors will be required to prepare their own resources to meet the needs of the students but to also use resources where directed by the HoD or the School Improvement Partner. Whilst this role is advertised as typically part-time, there is an element of flexibility in assigning hours, to best meet the needs of the academy curriculum, this may vary through the course of the academic year, but will be discussed as part of the application process.

• hold qualified teacher status, or are a qualified HE or FE teacher; or
• are able to demonstrate a track record of effective teaching; or
• are able to demonstrate that you can work with individual pupils to progress their learning; or
• have subject specific knowledge.
The Academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, providing opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools if desired. All staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week and a further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through our own network of teaching schools.
