We have a full-time vacancy for a Business Support Assistant whose core focus will be to support our Public Health Nursing, Named Nurse. The Named Nurse for Public Health Nursing provides safeguarding leadership and advice for the Public Health Nursing Service. The role supports and challenges the service to work effectively to safeguard children from neglect and abuse by professionals, volunteers, and those in public office who have direct contact or responsibility for children. The Business Support Assistant will deliver a full range of administrative functions to the Named Nurse and the wider Safeguarding service as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Be a first point of contact for the Named Nurse, providing advice on the role and process, and signposting to appropriate services.
2. Liaise effectively with internal and external agencies to share information securely, ensuring the safety of children and vulnerable adults.
3. Provide professional, high-quality administrative support to respond promptly and appropriately, promoting positive outcomes for children.
4. Assist with follow-ups by chasing agencies for updates, extracting relevant information, and recording it accurately.
5. Maintain and update databases and trackers to ensure data accuracy.
6. Collate and present data in various formats, providing basic analysis for reports and meetings.
7. Arrange, attend, and take notes at meetings, supporting minute-taking as needed.
8. Manage and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines.
9. Provide technical assistance and training on IT hardware and software, attending training as required.
10. Manage diaries, book training courses, travel, and accommodation.
11. Support and cover for other administrative staff and the wider Safeguarding Service as needed.
The role may require remote working and flexible hours within core business hours (Monday–Thursday 08:45–17:15, Friday 08:45–16:45). Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs (A-C), including English and Maths, and excellent keyboard skills. Office experience is advantageous. Person Specification
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to liaise with staff, service users, and agencies professionally and discreetly.
* Ability to work within a busy team, produce accurate outputs, and meet deadlines.
* Experience in maintaining records and filing systems, electronic and paper-based.
* Confident in using Windows applications.
