SEMH Teaching Assistant - StevenageEducation & Training Opportunity£465 - £500 per weekThis role is ideal for individuals who want to build experience in education and training while making a genuine difference in young people's lives.The pupils you support may face challenges such as:Anxiety or difficulty regulating emotionsBehavioural challenges or attachment-related needsLow confidence and self-beliefDifficulties forming positive relationshipsTrauma or challenging experiences that affect learningA supportive and forward-thinking school in Stevenage is seeking a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Many of the students are looking for consistent adults they can trust - people who can set a good example, provide reassurance, and help them believe in their own potential.As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may find school challenging due to emotional or behavioural difficulties. Many learners benefit from having strong, dependable role models who can demonstrate positive behaviour, patience, and resilience.By providing encouragement, structure, and consistency, you will help pupils develop trust, resilience, and a more positive outlook towards school.Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting pupils during lessons so they can access learning activitiesActing as a positive role model, demonstrating calm and constructive behaviourHelping pupils develop emotional awareness and coping strategiesEncouraging respectful interactions with peers and staffSupporting pupils both individually and in small group settingsWorking collaboratively with teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staffHelping to maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environmentYou will ideally be:A calm and positive individual who can act as a strong role model for pupilsPassionate about supporting children's emotional and social developmentSkilled at building trusting relationships with young peopleResilient and able to remain composed in challenging situationsA team player with strong communication skillsPrevious experience supporting SEMH or SEND pupils is beneficial but not essential.
