Inpatient CAMH's Pharmacy Technician

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Medicines Administration Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team. You will be a proven team player, enjoy variety, thrive on managing your own workload. This role will provide opportunities to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge. We are looking for someone with an accredited checking qualification (ACPT). The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training to enable them to succeed in and develop within the role, including skills relating to medicines administration and physical health monitoring. You will be supported to maintain your checking technician qualification. You will be an integral part of our service provision, working with the in‑patient team to promote the safe and effective use of medicines.
Job responsibilities
* Promote the safe and effective utilisation of medicines in all care situations, working with care staff and patients directly, including administering oral medication to inpatients.
* Confidently deal with patients, carers and healthcare staff internally and external organisations to ensure patient safety with medication.
* Administer oral, inhaled and topical medicines following successful completion of the medicines administration competencies.
* Undertake medicines reconciliations, patient counselling, physical health monitoring, ordering medicines, teaching and audit work.
* Understand the patient pathway of care from admission to discharge and optimise patients’ concordance with medicines.
* Possess excellent communication skills and confidence interacting with a diverse range of people and staff groups in various settings.
* Work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, providing pharmaceutical care to patients with a range of mental health conditions.
* Support Bluebird House, a medium‑secure CAMH unit on the same site, as required.
* Coordinate with the existing part‑time Medicines Administration Pharmacy Technician post.
Qualifications and experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
* Accredited checking technician status.
* Current GPhC registration.
* Accredited checking qualification (ACPT).
