Overview

Data Center Technician, Operations, IT, & Support Engineering at AWS Infrastructure Services. AWS owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the cloud. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people to help.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at optimal cost, and you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

This role offers a unique opportunity to join AWS as a Data Centre Technician. You will become the primary resolver for your support team, gain troubleshooting skills on one or more operating systems, and be able to troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. Issues are escalated to appropriate resolver groups when necessary. You will create and maintain documentation on technologies you support and convey Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to junior staff. You will understand all aspects of the equipment you support and be able to innovate and make decisions independently while taking direction when provided, paying attention to all details involved.


Responsibilities

* Troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal Service-Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
* Respond to off-hour emergency calls per on-call rotation for any one of the region’s sites.
* Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
* Must be commutable to the Thames Valley Region.


Basic Qualifications

Data Centres are 24/7 environments. All interested candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts (day/night) as well as weekends. Data Centre Technicians are also required to wear a pager for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations.

• 3+ years of Computer Hardware experience or equivalent.

• 3+ years of Computer Networking experience.


Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in an IT-related field, applicable certifications, or equivalent professional/military experience.

• Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.

• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, and other commodity networking devices.

• Previous experience working in a Data Centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).

• All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, their own vehicle, and will need to pass a driving record check to operate company vehicles.

• Travel between sites/locations during the workday may occur.
