Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the role of Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal (MSK) Clinical Specialist within the east area of BCUHB. The role is an integral part of the rheumatology multidisciplinary team supporting staff working within rheumatology clinics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy departments in the Wrexham and Flintshire area, providing clinical leadership to the service.
It will involve teaching, training and supervision of staff, representing the service in clinical network groups, and contributing to the development of clinical pathways by providing clinical expertise. The post holder will manage a complex caseload and support other staff with the management of complex patient presentations.
The post holder will work as an autonomous, extended scope practitioner, with an extended scope of physiotherapy practice to work within a team to deliver a clinical specialist service to patients referred to rheumatology and MSK physiotherapy services.
The physiotherapy service in BCUHB offers a whole career pathway. Service improvement and development is encouraged and all staff have access to regular supervision and training.
Main Duties
* Take a clinical lead role in assessment and treatment of patients, primarily with complex presentations.
* Attend weekly rheumatology MDT meetings, providing clinical input from a physiotherapy perspective.
* Work as an autonomous, clinical specialist physiotherapist with an advanced practitioner to develop and deliver a high‑quality clinical service throughout BCUHB, leading by example and providing a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of patients in varied locations.
* Develop competencies for frontline clinical staff within the section, assessing, clinically reasoning and effectively treating routine cases and identifying those with complex needs requiring support.
* Provide an ongoing rolling training programme and support package to develop appropriate knowledge and skills in the workforce within the specialism and rotational staff base.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
