Reporting to VP Data Governance, the Data Governance Manager will take an influential role in enabling colleagues to understand the importance of data in achieving Sage's strategic ambitions. Under direction from the VP Data Governance, this role will aid in the implementation of centrally led, globally implemented governance initiatives.
The Data Governance Manager is a key facilitator in the maturing Data Function and will support Sage in developing the capabilities to enable the power of data to drive organisational growth and enhance our customer experience. The role is responsible for proactively contributing to the delivery of the data governance programme by creating and advising on Sage-wide data policies and standards in close collaboration with the risk, assurance and data security and privacy teams. It will make sure we have the guidance and processes in place to enable Sage to extract value from data sources and support the creation of frameworks and recommend new ways of working to ensure data quality.

As part of the Data Enablement Practice, the Data Governance Manager takes a leading role in forming and executing the Sage data governance framework, policy and standards while being a critical driver for the implementation of an enterprise-wide Data Enablement and governance practice within Sage.
• Support the VP Data Governance in strategic planning activities, leading the design and implementation of a number of key initiatives within the Data Governance space.
• Manage a network of colleagues in the business with Data Governance responsibilities, who operate as an extension to the core Data Function, to embed and mature Data Governance practices globally.
• Form a central role in defining, developing and delivering training to colleagues across the organisation on data stewardship and best practices.
• Ensure Sage has complete, consistent, current and authoritative master, reference data and metadata across all processes and data domains.
• Manage Sage’s metadata management tool, ensuring policies and principles are adhered to.
• Partner with key business stakeholders to establish data definitions and support the development of business cases to justify new data initiatives within their business context.
• Define key performance indicators for quality and compliance metrics to ensure related data policies and standards are adhered to.
• Drive secure and accurate data governance reporting across the business.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Data Governance operating model, data catalogues and knowledge bases (including the Confluence Data Governance space)
• Work closely with the rest of the Data team to support the development of policies, procedures and standards for data modelling, data quality, security, architecture, change management and Data Operations.
• Support the Data Management lifecycle across the organisation and provide relevant Data governance input.
• Be a key driver in both the Metadata and Master Data Management tools work streams.
• Define role-based views and dashboards for business and power users to manage master data efficiently and effectively.
• Provide thought leadership and participate in projects involving any upstream or downstream data flows and processes.
• Act as deputy / delegate for the VP Data Governance when required.
Skills, know-how and experience:
• Experience of working in a cross-functional, global environment
• Proven experience working with data in a strategic capacity
• Significant experience working with data in a data-centric environment
• Skilled in defining and integrating data governance processes and procedures
• Data Governance maturity assessment experience
• Ability to define and generate key metrics relating to all aspects of data governance, specifically data quality
• M&A experience – acquisition, JV and disposal would be an advantage
• Fluent English – additional languages would be advantageous
