Offer description

Job overview We have a Consultant Anaesthetist post available based at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust, Guildford. The post is full time comprising 10 PAs. We are a department that provide a consultant-led service to dynamic surgical teams at the cutting edge of surgical innovation. Our department prides itself in allowing each individual to develop and bring their own areas of expertise and interest to what is already a very diverse mix of special interests. These include the more conventional areas such as examinerships, deanery roles, quality improvement, editorships, fellowship leads etc. but have expanded to medical examiner roles, mortality reviews, clinical risk, project management, ethics, and management roles within the Trust. Work has started on a purpose built, modular, ambulatory care centre – the Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre (CASIC) - in the grounds of the RSFT that will give us additional capacity of 6 new theatres and associated facilities. Expected to come online in 2026, this exciting development opens up new opportunities to appointees. For further information or for informal visit please contact Dr Ben Morrison Clinical Director for Anaesthetics [email protected] Tel 01483 464116 Advert There is increasing demand for anaesthetic support for procedures away from theatres, with endoscopy, interventional radiology and Radiotherapy being at the forefront of expansion recently. These are relatively new areas of demand, and along with an expansion of elective obstetrics and obstetric clinics offers a new consultant niche areas to organise and streamline. We are also expanding our pre-assessment service including a greater provision of consultant-led high-risk anaesthetic clinics. The department has historically led the way in holding senior deanery roles and we would look to new consultants to join our group of educational supervisors. Working for our organisation Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust. Recognising that our 5000 colleagues are our greatest strength, we offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing program along with a commitment to developing and advancing your career. Our diverse and welcoming Royal Surrey family will ensure you that you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire tenure. We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have given us an overall rating of Outstanding. Royal Surrey has a strong reputation and history to build on. We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us. Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
