HMP Dovegate is a category B male establishment prison located on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border near Uttoxeter. The operational capacity is for 0 prisoners, and it requires a dedicated team to ensure the facility remains safe, secure, and functional.
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality interventions to the trained standard, conduct thorough session debriefs, complete detailed and unbiased Post Programme Reports within the designated timeframe, and promote a positive, safe, and secure learning environment for both staff and offenders.
As an Interventions Facilitator, your responsibilities will include completing administrative tasks such as processing referrals, updating waiting lists, photocopying session materials, and communicating with prison staff and external agencies regarding individual progress on programmes. You will also be responsible for all pre- and post-session work related to programme delivery.
Additional key responsibilities include:
1. Attending regular supervision sessions with the Treatment Manager.
2. Assessing prisoners and recommending suitable programmes.
3. Writing Post Programme Reports for both completers and non-completers, detailing progress and further work needed.
4. Attending and passing required training sessions.
5. Conducting motivational work and assessments with prisoners before programme commencement.
6. Preparing objectives and follow-up activities with prisoners involved in programmes and providing additional support as needed.
7. Contributing to sentence planning and parole processes for prospective and current group members.
Qualifications and Experience Needed:
Experience in facilitating group work or working with challenging client groups is essential. Evidence of educational achievements with reasonable results is also required.
Training will be provided; however, knowledge in the following areas would be advantageous:
* Understanding of psychological theories related to offending.
* Knowledge of the 'what works' literature on reducing reoffending.
* Understanding theories related to violent and sexual offending.
* Awareness of responsivity and diversity issues when working with offenders.
* Familiarity with motivational techniques.
