About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest rural youth organisations in Devon as our Chief Operating Officer. The Devon Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (DFYFC) supports a thriving network of 37 clubs and over 1,400 members aged 10–28, delivering a wide-ranging programme of activities that promote fun, learning and achievement.
As Chief Operating Officer, you will play a key leadership role, leading the day-to-day operations of the organisation and working closely with the Board of Management, staff and volunteer leaders. You will ensure effective delivery and long-term sustainability, while driving strategic development, strengthening partnerships, and supporting income generation through membership, fundraising, sponsorship and use of our premises.
The role also carries responsibility as the organisation’s Lead Safeguarding Officer, ensuring robust safeguarding practices are in place and maintained.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic and operational leadership of the Federation
2. Line management of staff and oversight of daily operations
3. Safeguarding and welfare lead
4. Financial oversight alongside the Treasurer
5. Fundraising, sponsorship and income generation
6. Supporting volunteers and engaging members
7. Oversight of events, competitions and training programmes
About You
8. Experience in leadership, operations, or programme management
9. Strong organisational and communication skills
10. Experience working with volunteers and/or young people
11. Understanding of safeguarding, GDPR and health & safety
12. Passion for rural communities and youth development
