Permanent, part‑time (32 hours per week) Nursery Nurse at Tír na nÓg, Grade 3. Salary £23,815 – £23,881 p.a. pro rata, contract permanent, reporting to the Nursery Manager.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑standard physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the day‑care centre.
* Support other personnel within the centre.
* Implement the daily routine appropriate to the room, e.g. baby room.
* Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range in conjunction with other staff.
* Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
* Work with parents/carers of special‑needs children to ensure full integration.
* Keep a proper record of achievement files for key children.
* Liaise with parents/carers and other family members.
* Participate in training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising activities, and other working‑hour activities.
* Be flexible within the setting’s working practices.
* Help where needed, including certain domestic jobs.
* Work with the manager and staff to ensure the project’s philosophy is fulfilled.
* Record accidents in the accident book, ensuring the manager has initialised the report before the parent receives it.
* Be aware of the needs of all children to ensure they are collected by someone known to the setting.
* Respect the confidentiality of information received.
* Develop your role within the team, especially with regard to the key‑worker position.
* Prepare and complete activities suited to the child’s stage of development.
* Ensure mealtimes are pleasant social sharing experiences.
* Washing and changing children as required.
* Provide comfort and warmth to ill children.
* Maintain a high‑quality environment to meet the needs of children from differing cultures, religious backgrounds and development stages.
* Uphold safeguarding of children and young people in accordance with workplace policies.
* Promote the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace.
* Assist with performance review and developmental activities.

Qualifications and Training
* Level 2 in childcare qualification, willing to work towards Level 3 (essential).
* Safeguarding certificate (desirable).
* First‑aid certificate (desirable).
* Food hygiene certificate (desirable).
Experience and Knowledge
* Previous experience caring for or working with children aged birth to five years in a voluntary or paid capacity (essential).
* Knowledge of national standards for the regulation of childcare provision (essential).
* Aware of the importance of health and safety and food hygiene in the workplace (essential).
* Understanding of the Foundation Phase curriculum (desirable).
Skills and Abilities
* Good organisational, record‑keeping and planning skills (essential).
* Good communication skills with children, colleagues, advisors and parents/carers (essential).
* Patience and empathy with children and adults (essential).
* Positive inclusive practice with children and colleagues (essential).
* Enthusiasm for working with young children (essential).

* Willingness to undertake other duties as deemed necessary by the senior nursery nurse/manager.
* Ability to speak Welsh confidently for certain tasks; speaking Welsh is essential.
