Veterinary Surgeon and Epidemiologist (EIDS) [Temporary Cover]
We have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join the Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance (EIDS) group for a 12‑month maternity cover position.
The role requires a qualified veterinary surgeon with experience in the equine field to assist EIDS with its work in epidemiology and disease surveillance of equine infectious disease. Preference will be given to candidates with additional qualifications or experience in epidemiology.
Responsibilities
* Assist the senior veterinary surgeon/epidemiologist in the EIDS team.
* Support surveillance schemes for equine infectious disease, including collection and analysis of data.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of disease control advice to veterinary surgeons.
* Collate and share disease information through reports and scientific communication.
* Participate in stakeholder engagement and collaboration with equine industry groups.
* Provide project support such as coordinating data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Qualifications
* Qualified veterinary surgeon.
* Experience or further qualifications in epidemiology preferred.
* Experience in the equine field.
* Strong analytical and communication skills.
Position Details
* Duration: 12 months or until return of the post holder.
* Hours: Minimum 21 per week; part‑time or full‑time flexible.
* Location: University of Cambridge veterinary department.
* Closing date: 14 November 2025.
