AECOM Advisory integrates management consultancy with infrastructure and industry expertise. The team applies Lean thinking, process optimisation and industrial engineering to deliver measurable improvements and support clients across Defence, Aviation, Infrastructure, Automotive and other regulated sectors. The role contributes to delivery, client engagement and development of the Process Optimisation capability within Industrial Advisory.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of high-value consultancy projects within the Industrial Advisory team across multiple levels (Consultant, Senior Consultant, Principal Consultant).
* Work under the direction of an Industrial Advisory Director or Principal to contribute to technical excellence and commercial success.
* Operate with increasing levels of autonomy, accountability and client responsibility in line with experience and grade.
* Contribute to project delivery, client engagement and the ongoing development of Industrial Advisory capability.
* Demonstrate structured problem-solving, analytical skills and the ability to manage defined workstreams within projects.
* Develop collaborative relationships with internal teams and build early client exposure.
* Support development of value propositions for process optimisation, manufacturing and industrial advisory services.
* Apply Lean, Six Sigma and industrial engineering techniques to analyse and improve client operations.
* Produce data-driven insights and translate them into practical, deliverable solutions.
* Deliver projects and workstreams to agreed quality, cost and schedule.
* Build client relationships and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across AECOM.
* Contribute to business development activities, including proposals and thought leadership.
Qualifications
* Degree, HND or equivalent in engineering, manufacturing or related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience; professional membership is beneficial.
* Background in manufacturing, industrial engineering, process improvement or related operational environments.
* Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., defence, aviation, nuclear, infrastructure, manufacturing).
* Demonstrated ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical, value-driven solutions.
* Experience applying Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Technical & Delivery Skills: process mapping, analysis and optimisation; production systems, facility design or industrial operations; data analysis and performance improvement; project delivery and workstream management; ability to translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
* Desirable: automation, robotics or manufacturing systems integration; digital manufacturing, simulation or data analytics tools; experience applying Lean in non-manufacturing environments; consulting or advisory experience in complex projects.
* Travel: UK and international travel as required; hybrid working arrangement with alignment to a UK office (e.g., Bristol, Birmingham, London, Manchester or other).
This role will be aligned to an AECOM office in the UK with hybrid working arrangements. Travel to client sites will be required across the UK and, where necessary, internationally.
