What you will do
* Carry out Initial Assessments to understand the needs and risks of children and families.
* Initiate Care Proceedings to safeguard vulnerable children.
* Take cases to initial case conferences, ensuring the best interests of the child are always the focus.
* Conduct assessments under the single assessment framework, providing clear and informed recommendations.
* Engage in Care Planning and signpost to appropriate services.
* Complete comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards to children.
* Prepare detailed reports for initial child protection case conferences.
* Attend case conferences to discuss and plan child welfare strategies.
* Complete Section 17 reports for family courts to aid in decision‑making.
* Write initial court statements to provide evidence and insights for legal proceedings.
* Apply for emergency care orders when immediate action is necessary.
* Attend court to present and defend the welfare interests of children.
* Perform home visits to monitor and safeguard children, ensuring their well‑being.
* Chair meetings to lead discussions and strategise child protection plans.
Requirements of the Senior Social Worker
A Degree or equivalent in social work is essential, alongside current Social Work England registration. You will need significant frontline experience in Social Services in the UK, having worked as a qualified Social Worker.
