The Role
Gartnavel Royal Hospital/HSCP Estates Department are currently looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, resilient and hardworking Maintenance Multi‑Skilled Electrical Technician to join the team. The post requires maintaining a wide range of building services plant and equipment and were necessary.
Provide technical expertise when required, including operating and maintaining safe and efficient systems of work for all building services.
To provide electrical services to meet the needs of NHS GG&C Health Board, by operating an efficient and effective estates service within the Boards Healthcare Facilities to ensure the safe delivery of patient care and delivering a planned maintenance, repair and installation service which represents quality and value for money at all times.
Details
Duration: 36 hours per week.
Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:00 and Friday 08:00 – 15:30. The post holder will be required to participate in on‑call duties as part of the on‑call team.
Location: You will be based within Gartnavel Royal Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will examine and inspect faults in plant and machinery, establish appropriate repair solutions and advise managers and Heads of Department on the potential impact on wards, theatres and patient services. They will carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with work requests, ensuring all records and required documentation are completed accurately.
They will work in accordance with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health & Safety and SHTM policies and procedures, and undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing services. The role also includes carrying out electrical circuit testing in line with current regulations.
The post holder will organise and manage their workload on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring priorities are met, and will participate in the on‑call rota to ensure emergency repairs outside normal working hours are responded to in line with current local agreements.
Qualifications
* Recognised and registered EITB or CITB (or equivalent) craft apprenticeship or City & Guilds appropriate qualification.
* Competent tradesperson with extensive relevant experience in building maintenance, some of which should preferably have been acquired within the healthcare sector.
* Appropriate HNC or equivalent in a core subject with additional qualifications as required for non‑core skills.
* Designated individuals will require training to be certified as a Competent Person undertaking specialist and refresher training as required for the duties of the post.
