Description
 * Lead the College’s commercial ventures, ensuring they operate to the highest standards of service, professionalism, and profitability.
 * Act as the face of our microbusinesses, creating welcoming, customer‑focused environments that reflect the College’s values and commitment to excellence.
 * Embed enterprise into education, working closely with curriculum teams to provide students with hands‑on experience in running real businesses.
 * Collaborate with the Director of Estates to ensure all facilities supporting these ventures are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
 * Drive innovation and growth, identifying new income‑generating opportunities through lettings, events, and student enterprise.
 * Support internal events, ensuring seamless delivery through effective coordination with facilities and commercial teams.
In this exciting and varied role, you will:
 * Lead the College’s commercial ventures, ensuring they operate to the highest standards of service, professionalism, and profitability.

 * Support internal events, ensuring seamless delivery through effective coordination with facilities and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
Fixed term contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Leadership and Management
 * Provide line management and leadership to catering and cleaning, working with the Director of Estates to ensure wider Campus oversight. To ensure services are efficient, customer‑focussed and financially sustainable.
 * Lead by example as the visible presence for commercial offerings such as the restaurant and theatre and the ‘Host’ for the AirBnB ensuring staff and students deliver high standards of service and presentation.
 * Oversee the coordination of rotas, ensuring staffing levels support both commercial and daily requirements.
Microbusiness Operations
 * Oversee the management of commercial operations within the College, including, but not solely the Theatre, AirBnB and Restaurant, ensuring financial targets are met and operations remain within identified budgets.
 * Support the integration of student learning into microbusiness activities, ensuring students gain meaningful, structured and supervised work experience, carrying out risk assessments to support.
 * Ensure microbusinesses reflect Bath College’s value, brand and reputation for excellence in hospitality, service and innovation.
 * Ensure all microbusinesses operate within the appropriate licensing and that risk assessments are up to date for all operations.
 * Work with curriculum staff to align microbusiness activities with student learning outcomes.
 * Ensure compliance with Safeguarding regarding the delivery of all commercial areas.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
 * Proven experience in managing commercial services or customer‑facing operations.
 * A passion for education and empowering young people through enterprise.
 * Strong leadership and organisational skills.
 * A collaborative mindset and the ability to work across departments.
 * A commitment to delivering high‑quality, student‑centred experiences.
 * Level 7 in a Management or Facilities Management field, or at least 10 years relevant experience.
 * Level 3 Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to achieve this Certificate).
 * Demonstrate understanding of the use of a range of Microsoft 365 applications including integrated tools for efficient business management.
 * Demonstrate understanding of effective procurement within a Hospitality and/or Facilities environment.
 * Demonstrate knowledge of budget management in an operational Hospitality, Catering or Leisure/Tourism industry, with an emphasis on increasing income.
