Our client is a large multidisciplinary who provide a variety of services, including land access and assembly, agricultural liaison, planning, environmental impact assessments and geospatial mapping.
Their Environmental and Planning Team is seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Planner to enhance our growing expertise.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Scotland, aprehensive understanding of Scottish policy and relevant legislation, and the ability to engage with stakeholders and clients.
Your new role
In this role you will need to:
1. Lead or manage a small team to deliver a range of environmental planning services. Focus on technical EIA and Planning specialisms for projects and sites with varying levels of environmental sensitivities.
2. Coordinate EIA projects in line with relevant Environmental and Planning guidance, legislation, and policy as applied in the UK. Provide advice and prepare and deliver a range of EIA reports for all stages, from initial screening through to EORs.
3. Stay informed about future changes in policy and ensurepliance with evolving Environmental and Planning regulations.
4. Have experience of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a range of internal and external project stakeholders, including client teams, technical specialists and Local Authority planning officers
5. Reporting directly to the client, manage and take ownership of own/team performance in meeting deadlines and objectives and use a proactive approach and own high-level initiative to drive progress and continuously improve delivery.
6. Offer the wider Environmental and Planning team assistance on other projects and actively support the team and wider business development, using your own experienced skills to provide guidance onplex cases, seek efficiency gains and identify areas of new work and ways to cross-sell widerpany services.
7. Maintain your own knowledge and skills viapany and wider CPD and, if working towards professional membership or qualification ( IEMA, RTPI), take responsibility for their own learning and progress, scheduling progress review meetings and maintaining an up-to-date record of activities.
8. Monitor, support and coordinate the work and development of more junior members of staff and, if applicable, provide constructive line management to own line reports, engaging in regular progress review and feedback meetings, delegating tasks effectively.
9. Carry out work inpliance with relevant legal, regulatory, contractual and organisational requirements and policies.
What you'll need to succeed
10. Have a relevant EIA and/or planning degree and have achieved chartered membership of The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and/or the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
11. Have sound analytical and presentation skills coupled with great written and verbalmunication skills; ideally, you will be able to write and prepare fee proposals for the work you undertake and advise others when inputting into larger multidisciplinary projects.
12. Bemercially aware, enabling you to understand client needs and requirements when undertaking negotiations with stakeholders.
13. Be an excellentmunicator with the willingness to learn and develop
14. Have good knowledge of GIS systems and an understanding of environmental technical disciplines
15. Be self-motivated and organised
16. Have a full UK driving licence
17. Be a great team player and have a can-do attitude.
