Job Title: Nursery Room Leader (Early Years)
Location: Nottingham
Purpose of the Role
To lead a nursery room (baby, toddler, or preschool), while also taking the first step into management. Ensuring high-quality care, learning, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Development
* Plan and deliver engaging activities based on EYFS
* Monitor, assess, and record children’s development
* Support children’s emotional, social, and physical needs
Room Leadership
* Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners
* Delegate tasks and support staff development
* Maintain staff ratios and daily organisation
Safeguarding & Welfare
* Ensure children’s safety and wellbeing at all times
* Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
* Report concerns in line with legal requirements
Administration
* Maintain accurate records (learning journeys, observations)
* Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards
* Manage daily room routines and planning
Parent Partnerships
* Build strong relationships with parents/carers
* Provide feedback on children’s progress
* Support settling-in processes
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare
* Experience working in a nursery setting
* Strong knowledge of EYFS
* Experience supporting or leading a team
Desirable:
* Paediatric First Aid
* Safeguarding training
* Previous Room Leader or Senior Practitioner experience
