Planning Support Officer
Location: Barnsley
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm (37 hours per week)
Pay: £14.36 per hour (paid weekly every Friday)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full‑time, Temporary ongoing
About the Role
We are looking for an organised and motivated Planning Support Officer to join a busy Property Services Repairs Team. This role involves coordinating work for operatives, supporting managers, and ensuring that repairs and maintenance activities are planned efficiently.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, busy administrative role with a strong customer service focus.
Key Responsibilities
* Scheduling and allocating work electronically to operatives
* Working with managers to plan resources for ongoing projects
* Prioritising and monitoring safety related work to ensure full compliance
* Responding to calls and enquiries from customers and partners
* Maintaining accurate records, logs, and scheduling information
* Supporting improvements in the planning and scheduling process
* Working closely with contractors, partners, and internal teams
* Assisting with performance monitoring and KPI reporting
* Helping manage cyclical work scheduling and customer communications
* Supporting emergency and health & safety repairs within set timescales
What We're Looking For
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload
* Confident communicator (telephone, online, face‑to‑face)
* Good IT skills, ideally with experience using scheduling systems
* Positive, can do attitude with a focus on customer service
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexible when required and able to work to deadlines
* Commitment to equality, diversity and good service delivery
* Previous experience within; Repairs/Maintenance, Resource Planner, Workforce Planning/Scheduling, Coordination or similar roles.
* Previous experience within housing associations or similar would be highly beneficial.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office and work management systems
* GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent, OR relevant experience
