We’re looking for an experienced Service Designer to join a multidisciplinary delivery team working on a major workforce automation transformation programme.
This is an opportunity to help shape how automation is designed, understood and implemented across complex operational environments. You will play a key role in mapping current workforce processes, identifying opportunities for responsible automation, and ensuring that new services are user-centred, efficient and safe.

* Location: Hybrid – occasional travel to Leeds
The Role
As a Service Designer, you will lead the design of services that support automation initiatives and operational transformation.
You’ll work closely with product managers, technical teams, data specialists and operational stakeholders to understand existing services and design improved, future-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end service design activities, including discovery, journey mapping, service blueprinting and prototyping.
* Support and contribute to user research with relevant users and stakeholders to understand needs, challenges and the potential impact of automation on workflows.
* Translate insights into clear service concepts, design principles and practical recommendations.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define service requirements and operational processes.
* Identify opportunities for automation and design transition pathways to support smooth adoption and operational change.
* Create clear visualisations of complex systems and services to support stakeholder understanding and decision-making.
* Ensure new services promote efficiency, safety and improved user experience.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in Service Design within large or complex organisations.
* Strong skills in user research, service blueprinting, systems thinking and prototyping.
* Ability to analyse and simplify complex end-to-end services involving multiple stakeholders and legacy processes.
* Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.
* Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Solid understanding of GDS service design principles and standards.
