About the Department
With an annual income target of circa £12M, the fundraising team is a fast paced, busy department made up of 11 individuals working across a wide range of portfolios, including trusts and foundations, institutional funding, major donor fundraising, individual giving and legacies, online matched funding campaigns, events, donor acquisition and engagement. As the organisation continues to respond to ongoing international crises, deliver critical support services and provide humanitarian assistance globally, it is essential that the fundraising team strengthens its supporter base, grows its audience and increases income generation to meet the expanding needs of its programmes.
The Role
The post holder will take responsibility for a range of high profile, well established events, ensuring each is delivered to the highest standard with exceptional attention to detail.
This role works closely with teams across Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, Programmes and Finance, as well as with senior leadership, volunteer committees and the Board of Trustees.
A key responsibility is leading the organisation’s Annual Dinner, attended by over 600 major donors and raising in excess of £1.6M. This event is central to donor engagement, retention and income generation.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the full events portfolio and deliver the annual events calendar
* Line manage the Events and Campaigns Administrator and Events Coordinator
* Manage events on site, ensuring smooth delivery and overseeing staff, suppliers and logistics
* Manage and report on the events budget
* Lead the planning and delivery of the Annual Dinner, including venue coordination, suppliers, security, content, speeches and stakeholder management
* Work with the Marketing and Communications team to develop event content and materials
* Support the Events Coordinator in managing committees, events and post event analysis
* Collaborate internationally to deliver events in partnership with colleagues overseas
* Manage third party events and external partnerships
* Oversee participation in major fundraising initiatives such as marathons
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as required
The Person
Education and Qualifications
* A levels or equivalent
Experience
* Significant experience delivering high quality events within the non profit sector
* Experience managing a small team
* Experience managing budgets
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, trustees or committees
Skills and Abilities
* Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
* Proactive, able to use initiative and work under pressure
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at all levels
