You will work closely with staff at all levels within the organisation to ensure compliance with robust governance processes and to encourage and promote a culture of shared learning and high quality. You will work with our skilled Practice Education team to identify learning themes and with key personnel to ensure we maintain a strong clinical governance framework that reflects legislative, regulatory and requirements.
A qualified paediatric or dual registered nurse with experience of working in a senior clinical role. You will need to demonstrate your knowledge of clinical practice, risk management, education and service delivery, and your skills in working in a supportive and collaborative way.
To support the provision of assurance that our services are compliant, safe and delivering high quality care to our service users. You will work closely with staff at all levels within the organisation, as delegated by the Head of Governance, to ensure compliance with robust governance processes that assures us of the responsiveness of our services. You will promote shared learning and quality initiatives and facilitate their embedding and sustainability to demonstrate that we are a well led organisation, lead improvements in clinical practice and reduce risk. The post holder will foster close working relationships to support a positive safety culture and work with other professionals and relevant organisations to proactively manage governance, quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
Working with the Head of Governance, the post holder will:
 * Be a visible, accessible, and approachable individual within the care team to support, motivate and inspire.
 * Ensure up to date knowledge is maintained for all areas of the clinical governance framework including key legislative, regulatory and professional frameworks.
 * Ensure that quality assurance processes are embedded and robust, that responses to clinical incidents and complaints are appropriately managed and that quality assurance processes, policies, regulatory frameworks and CQC standards are met.
 * Identify learning themes and trends, analyse them, formulate plans to mitigate, share, monitor and evidencing learning.
 * Work closely with the Practice Education Team to ensure identified learning informs future education sessions.
 * Facilitate development/review of clinical policies, procedures, guidance and systems to deliver requirements of national regulatory frameworks (e.g., CQC, NICE, MHRA).
 * Ensure safety alerts and national guidance is implemented in a timely and appropriate way (NHSE policies, CAS alerts, NICE guidelines).
 * Lead on the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) agenda and maintain best practice.
 * Provide clinical expertise and guidance to all members of the Care Team.
 * Support the effective and efficient running of Naomi House & Jacksplace.
Key tasks
Clinical
 * Support staff to maintain high standards of practice; challenge and escalate poor practice.
 * Minimum of 20% of working time in clinical practice with the team.
 * Participate in the on-call rota; weekend and some night work.
 * Support delivery of patient safety frameworks; provide feedback to staff.
 * Provide feedback via presentations, teaching, newsletters and individual sessions.
 * Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
 * Develop action plans to minimise risks, including resource implications.
 * Support day-to-day running of the service.
 * Provide evidence-based advice and guidance to the Care Team.
 * Act as a resource to care staff regarding aspects of clinical practice and care.
 * Maintain records in line with professional guidance; adhere to NMC requirements.
Management
 * Ensure optimal use of resources (human, financial, environmental).
 * Negotiate and communicate sensitive information to groups of staff.
 * Participate in policy development, monitoring, and audit related to clinical practice.
 * Manage and administer the electronic risk management database.
 * Prepare reports for relevant meetings (Clinical Committee and Healthcare Governance).
 * Represent the organisation in external promotional activities and professional collaborations.
Personal
 * Commit to own personal and professional development; maintain clinical skills.
 * Comply with Trust policies and procedures; adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
 * Demonstrate commitment to the Trust’s values; undertake other duties within the nature of the post.
 * DBS clearance required (enhanced with barred list).
Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Essential: Registered Nurse with current NMC registration; evidence of ongoing professional development.
 * Desirable: Degree level education or equivalent; CPD focused on governance, compliance and risk management; Teaching/Mentoring qualification.
Experience
 * Essential: Experience in governance and compliance role in healthcare; knowledge of Quality Governance Frameworks and CQC Standards; investigation experience; ability to triangulate evidence and evaluate outcomes; experience in clinical supervision and reflective practice; safeguarding knowledge for children and young people.
Skills
 * Essential: Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team; clear communication of complex issues; excellent written English; time management under pressure.
Interpersonal skills
