Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Woking
Looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer responsible for providing specialist geotechnical inputs to both onshore and offshore projects. This includes developing engineering scopes for ground investigations, reviewing and analyzing geotechnical data (new and legacy), and providing geotechnical interpretation to generate reports and guidance. The role also involves developing and reviewing calculations, reports, and other deliverables in accordance with the project plan.
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer typically works in a specialist role within the Civil and Structural engineering team, coordinating with other discipline specialists, contractors, and consultants to address requirements related to foundations, earthworks, and other civil and geotechnical works.

Job Description
1. Perform hands-on engineering tasks, including design calculations, technical notes, and managing specialist studies and reviews.
2. Understand multi-discipline engineering design activities and collaborate effectively with teams.
3. Support project management in planning, identifying technical issues, and providing solutions.
4. Possess the ability to undertake wider engineering roles within the Civil Structural Group, such as civil or structural engineering aspects.
This role is part of a recruitment drive to develop our Front End and Detailed Engineering capabilities in the UK, supporting opportunities in Low Carbon/Energy Transition sectors and traditional energy projects. Your responsibilities:
1. Work as a specialist engineer on feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design, or EPC/EPCM projects, both onshore and offshore.
2. Serve as a subject specialist in geotechnical engineering for onshore and offshore projects.
3. Possess additional experience in civil and/or structural engineering roles.
4. Be technically responsible for all geotechnical/soils engineering aspects within a project, coordinating with specialists and third-party consultants as needed.
5. Formulate solutions to technical challenges and communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
6. Supervise, review, and check geotechnical engineering activities.
7. Work according to the Civil/Structural Design Manual and resolve discrepancies or contract divergences.
8. Provide construction support as required and participate in engineering design reviews.
9. Review ITB documents, proposals, and scopes of work from clients.
10. Plan resource requirements and liaise with project managers and global teams.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Qualifications:
* Masters Degree in Engineering, with postgraduate or specialist qualification in geotechnical engineering.
* Chartered status preferred, with experience in the Oil and Gas sector or Low Carbon Energy Transition industry.
Skills Requirement:
* Technical expertise in onshore and offshore geotechnical engineering within energy projects.
* Proficiency with geotechnical tools and software, including hand calculations, MS Excel, MathCAD, SACS-PSI, L-Pile, GRLWEAP, or equivalents.
* Additional civil or structural engineering skills are advantageous.
* Excellent coordination, supervisory, and communication skills.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and team-focused.
Communication:
* Strong written and spoken communication skills.
* Experience with consultancy, studies, FEED, detailed design, and EPC projects.
* Knowledge of international standards, safety, and quality procedures.
* Expertise in geotechnical aspects such as seismic response, foundation design, ground improvement, and earthworks.
* Experience in global work share management and supporting procurement processes.
