ROLE OVERVIEW We are currently seeking an experienced Deep Drainage Topman to join our team on complex infrastructure projects in Hendon. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing deep drainage operations, including works around sheet piling, large live services, and installation of 150mm Thames Water sewers. You will be responsible for ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Leading and supervising a team of pipelayers and groundworkers on deep drainage operations Setting out levels, line, and falls using drawings and laser equipment Overseeing deep drainage installations, including 150mm Thames Water sewer systems Managing works within sheet piled excavations safely and efficiently Supervising operations around large live services, ensuring safe systems of work are followed Installing manholes, chambers, and associated drainage structures Ensuring correct alignment, gradient, and quality of all pipework Coordinating closely with machine operators, slingers, and site management Reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and utility plans Monitoring progress, maintaining programme, and resolving on-site issues Ensuring all works are carried out in line with health & safety regulations, particularly in high-risk environments Supporting, mentoring, and leading team members by example on site REQUIREMENTS: CSCS Skilled Worker Blue Card (essential) Confined Spaces Training (essential) CPCS or NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Slinger/Signaller or Dumper ticket Proven experience as a Deep Drainage Topman or Senior Pipelayer Strong experience working with sheet piling and deep excavations Experience working around large live services and utility infrastructure Knowledge of Thames Water standards and sewer installations (150mm systems) Strong understanding of levels, gradients, and drainage systems Ability to set out and accurately read technical drawings Previous experience supervising teams on complex groundwork projects Excellent awareness of site health & safety practices Reliable, punctual, and able to lead by example Right to work in the UK DESIRABLE: Thames Water accreditation or previous framework experience Additional CPCS / NPORS plant tickets* Experience on large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects Safety Critical Medical 5–10 years of deep drainage / groundwork experience * Please note: to comply with client requirements, we can only accept NPORS cards that are CSCS-affiliated and carry the CSCS hologram.
