Role Summary
The Senior Buyer – Civils at Rolls‑Royce SMR is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for a new product introduction, building a global supply base from the ground up and supporting a transformative UK infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and manage global sourcing campaigns in line with business constraints (time, cost, quality).
* Conduct market and supplier analysis to guide sourcing decisions and influence design and commercial outcomes.
* Lead the development of global supplier and commodity strategies, driving improvements in quality, cost‑efficiency and delivery performance.
* Prepare and manage PQQ/RFP documentation, evaluate submissions and support the execution of strategic tenders.
* Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, collaborating across directorates to ensure alignment and cross‑functional delivery.
* Maintain compliance with safety regulations, including BPSS, DBS and financial probity checks.
Key Selection Criteria
* Experience delivering global category management and strategic sourcing initiatives in a NPI environment.
* Advanced knowledge of procurement, supply chain management and strategic sourcing from ground‑up development.
* Proven track record of delivering commercial rigour and innovation in highly regulated industries.
* Strong planning, project management and Microsoft Excel skills for cost modelling and reporting.
* Global outlook – exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working.
* Self‑starter capable of managing stakeholders at all levels.
Training & Qualification Requirements
* B/A‑degree or equivalent industry experience.
* Commercial acumen and solid understanding of procurement and supply chain management.
