Barts Health is seeking an enthusiastic and self‑motivated consultant haematologist to join our team for a 10PA 6‑month fixed term post covering a career break. Clinical activity will be based at the Royal London Hospital, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of four consultants, three clinical nurse specialists and a rotating group of specialty registrar and senior house officer posts. The role includes 1.0 PA of additional SPA that can be utilised by the post‑holder to develop services in an area of interest.
Key Responsibilities
 * Be an active member of the department and help deliver the departmental mission of excellence in clinical care and teaching.
 * Provide specialist haematology service for patients referred to the department in line with Trust and NHS targets, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
 * Maintain liaison and communication with the Clinical Director, Lead Clinician and Service Manager.
 * Attend outpatient and chemotherapy clinics for patients cared for in the general haematology service at Whipps Cross Hospital.
 * Deliver evidence‑based care for all out‑patients and accept personal responsibility for the total clinical care of patients referred.
 * Triage and vet general haematology referrals, offering advice and guidance to local GPs.
 * Promote changes that improve service delivery to patients.
 * Attend relevant management meetings.
 * Participate actively in evidence‑based care initiatives.
 * Liaise effectively and promptly with GPs, community services and other appropriate healthcare agencies.
 * Engage in Clinical Governance and Audit activities.
 * Encourage and foster improvements in the quality and standards of clinical services across the Trust.
 * Support strategies ensuring targets are reached and data are collected accurately.
