Community Health Care Support Worker (HCA)

Role Overview
As an HCA you will play a crucial role in supporting the registered nurses in delivering high quality, clinical care and rehabilitation to patients in their own homes. You will receive training and support on a multitude of clinical skills, enabling you to practise confidently and safely within the community, including wound care management, leg ulcer management, vascular assessments, compression bandaging, catheterisations (female and suprapubic) and basic life support.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical care and rehabilitation for patients in the community.
* Assist nurses with wound care, leg ulcer management and vascular assessments.
* Perform catheterisations and basic life support as required.
* Build good relationships with patients, families and carers.
* Work in partnership with the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Carry out duties independently under the supervision of nurses.
Qualifications & Experience
* Previous experience of caring (preferred) or a relevant care qualification such as NVQ/QCF Level 3.
* Demonstrable clinical skills and knowledge.
* Full UK driver’s licence and use of a car for business purposes, or ability to commute within the Trust’s geographical area.
* Ability to work independently and on your own initiative.
Working Hours & Rota
37.5 hours a week; rota system (09:00 hrs – 17.00 hrs) including weekends (approximately 1 in 4).
Development & Progression
CNWL is investing in apprenticeship programmes to offer the opportunity for HCAs to develop into Nursing Associate Band 4 post holders. You will receive access to continuing professional development resources and support to complete modules to develop a clinical specialty aligned to the needs of the service.
