Our Geo-Environmental Team is a dynamic group of around 100 specialists spread across 10 offices throughout the UK and Ireland, working across three core disciplines: Ground Investigation, Land Quality & Remediation (incl. PFAS & EDD services) and Groundwater & Geothermal. We serve key sectors including Energy, Water, Defence, Nuclear and Property. Over the last 4 years we have grown our business by c50% and we have ambitious plans built on a clear strategy to continue this rate of growth over the next 4 - 5 years. We are looking for a Geo-environmental Consultant / Engineering Geologist to join our team in Leeds to work largely in the north of England. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our northern geo-environment consulting team of 30 staff (currently 11 staff based in Leeds) and part of Tetra Tech's 100 strong national geo-environmental resource. Our northern geo-environment consulting team provides services for a broad range of private clients and the public sector, working on a variety challenging projects and sites and often with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams. You will be responsible for providing engineering geology and geo-environmental services for water utilities clients such as United Utilities and Yorkshire Water and for development clients such as Harworth Estates, Homes England and the MOD.
Responsibilities
* The production of desk-based assessments of site geology, hydrogeology, history and assessment of risk to generate ground models and conceptual site models
* Geotechnical and contamination ground investigation design, data interpretation and interpretative reporting
* Ground investigation management and site supervision
* Production of remediation and earthworks strategies and specifications
* Mining risk assessments
* Construction phase input including remediation and earthworks supervision
* Input into tendering for projects
* Assisting with the project and financial management including multidisciplinary projects, liaison with other disciplines within Tetra Tech and client liaison and meeting attendance (virtual and face to face)
Qualifications
* A first degree or Masters degree in geology or engineering geology
* Practical experience of managing and supervising ground investigations and laboratory scheduling
* Experience of geotechnical and geo-environmental assessment and reporting
* Experience of mining assessments and investigations
* Some knowledge of geotechnical design including foundation types and ground improvement options
* Some experience in writing earthworks specifications and in the supervision of earthworks
* Some experience of writing remediation strategies
* A willingness to travel on occasion for ground investigation works or remediation supervision
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and full IT literacy to write clear, concise and technically robust reports
* A good understanding of health, safety and environmental management for ground investigation and of CDM regulations as applicable to design
* A full, preferably clean, driving license
* Strong social, interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team
