Young Person Support Worker – Merseyside

Location: Liverpool-based (covering the wider Merseyside area)

Hours: Full-time, permanent

Due to business growth, we're recruiting two new team members

About the Role

At Bedspace, we support young people as they take the next step from the care system towards independent living. Our Outreach Support Workers play a vital role in helping care leavers build confidence, stability, and life skills to thrive on their own terms.

You'll provide one-to-one support to young people aged 16+, working within community settings across Merseyside. Every day is different – you might be helping a young person learn to budget, attend education or training, manage a tenancy, or simply be a trusted person they can talk to.

We use a relationship-based, person-centred approach, helping young people work through past trauma while promoting independence and wellbeing. Our team also embeds the ASDAN Resettlement Training programme into daily practice, giving our young people the skills and structure they need for success.

You'll be based from our Liverpool office, travelling throughout Merseyside to meet the needs of your caseload – so a full driving licence, access to your own vehicle and business insurance are essential.

What You'll Be Doing

* Supporting a caseload of young people as they transition into independent living
* Building positive, trusting relationships and providing consistent, tailored support
* Helping young people access education, training, and employment opportunities
* Promoting emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing
* Completing weekly property visits and progress reports
* Working closely with professionals including Social Workers, Health Teams, and other agencies
* Signposting to relevant community and specialist services
* Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour where needed, using a trauma-informed approach

About You

You're someone who:

* Has a genuine passion for helping young people overcome challenges and build a better future
* Can work independently, manage your own diary, and prioritise effectively
* Is resilient, compassionate, and calm under pressure
* Understands the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries
* Brings experience working with young people or vulnerable adults (16+), ideally in a care, housing, or community setting

What You'll Need

* Previous experience supporting vulnerable young people (essential)
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance (essential)
* Knowledge of safeguarding (adults and children)
* Computer literacy and strong report-writing skills
* A qualification in Health & Social Care (Level 3) or willingness to work towards it

We are Bedspace. Our mission is simple - to transform the lives of the people we care for and support. This role involves working closely with children and is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If successfully appointed references will be taken for all roles where you have worked with adults and children; additionally, a full work history needs to be included in your CV with explanations for gaps.

At present Bedspace is unable to provide sponsorships.
