Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Hairdressing Tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hairdressing techniques and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and developing the next generation of professionals in the hairdressing industry. As a Hairdressing Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons to students, providing demonstrations, and ensuring students develop the theoretical skills and creative flair required to succeed in the industry.
The job role will be working remotely online with learners. You may be required to travel for company training sessions throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging hairdressing lessons to students, covering a range of topics including cutting, colouring, styling, and perming and relaxing treatments.
* Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback and support to ensure they meet industry standards.
* Create and maintain lesson plans and teaching materials that align with curriculum standards.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new techniques, and products to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and contemporary.
* Support students with job placement and career development advice.
* Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student confidence and creativity.
* Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and continuous learning to improve teaching practices.
* Attend OTLA visits with your Skills Coach to ensure good practice in teaching, learning and assessment
* Attend team meetings and training activities in order to maintain required development and CPD. This may require you to travel.
* To comply with all UKTD policies and procedures to include: Safeguarding, IAG and all other UKTD policies to meet the requirement and standards set by the organisation and other relevant body
* To be familiar with the company vision, core values and business objectives and identify how IAG will support achievement of these goals
* To comply with all safeguarding responsibilities and undertake safeguarding and Prevent training as required
* To refer any safeguarding/Prevent concerns to your local Designated Safeguarding Officer DSO and follow the UKTD policy and procedure.
Qualifications and Experience:
* A recognized qualification in Hairdressing (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds).
* Proven experience as a qualified hairdresser with at least 5 years of industry experience.
* Teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, DTLLS, or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
* A genuine passion for teaching and mentoring students.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with students of varying skill levels.
* Excellent knowledge of current hairdressing techniques, products, and trends.
* Organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience in a teaching or training role within the hairdressing industry.
* Creativity and innovation in lesson planning and demonstrations.
* A strong professional network within the hairdressing industry.
UKTD expects all staff to support their commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
It is a requirement for an Enhanced DBS check to be carried out plus Safeguarding/Prevent training and responsibilities.
