Are you a highly skilled and experienced Estimator keen to work for a principal contractor in growth mode?
Pettigrew recruitment is delighted to be working with this very well respected company which is expanding at pace. Based in Stepps, this growing contractor offers bespoke solutions to their clients across the FM, new build, maintenance, fit out and refurbishment sectors across Scotland.
Due to continued demand for their services, they are looking to add another Estimator to their team. This is a fast paced role where no two days look the same given the variety of services they offer but key duties can be summaries as follows:
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for tenders.
* Compile tender submissions, ensuring all necessary information, rates, and supporting documents are included.
* Collaborate with project teams to understand project requirements, technical specifications, and construction methodologies.
* Utilise first principles to build accurate and competitive rates for materials, labour, and other project costs.
* Conduct thorough research and analysis of construction materials, methods, and technologies to ensure up-to-date knowledge.
* Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to gather accurate pricing information.
* Prepare detailed and comprehensive estimates, including cost breakdowns, quantities, and pricing summaries.
* Review and analyse project risks, highlighting potential cost implications and proposing mitigation strategies.
* Participate in tender interviews and meetings as required, providing expertise and support in cost-related matters.
Key skills required for the Estimator role:
* Proven track record of work winning in the construction industry.
* Proven track record of successfully preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial projects.
* Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to interpret drawings and specifications independently to compile comprehensive estimates.
* Proficiency in building rates from first principles, utilising industry-standard methods.
* Extensive knowledge of construction technologies, materials and methods.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Self-motivated and capable of working independently, while also contributing effectively to a team environment.
* Professional certifications or qualifications related to estimating or construction management are desirable.
