Theatre Practitioner – Anesthetics

Job Summary
Passionate and committed professional with experience in peri‑operative care is needed to support a dynamic and innovative theatre team at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie Hospital. The successful candidate will be a HCPC‑registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Registered Nurse (RN) qualified in anaesthetics, or a newly‑qualified practitioner with relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe and effective patient care during the peri‑operative period as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Manage a defined clinical area, maintaining competence and performance in line with organisational standards.
* Take an active role as a core member of the theatre team, contributing to patient outcome and team efficiency.
* Support the training and supervision of students and junior staff.
* Engage in continuous professional development, including participation in the PGCert programme and progression toward a Master’s level.

Essential Qualifications
* Clinical Nursing or ODP (RA) registration (RN/ODP/ODP‑Anesthesia).
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Active HCPC or NMC registration (or awaiting registration).
* Completed formal anaesthetic training (certification or programme).
Desirable Qualifications
* Relevant teaching or assessment accreditation.
* Demonstrated accurate documentation and reporting skills.
Essential Experience
* Current clinical practice in the peri‑operative environment.
* Experience teaching and managing trainees and junior staff in a senior band‑5 setting.
Desirable Experience
* Supervision/mentoring of learners and junior staff.
* Experience managing a clinical area.
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
Essential
* Effective verbal and written communication as an integral team member.
* Work‑load prioritisation abilities.
* Understanding of NMC and HCPC code of conduct.
Desirable
* Awareness of the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist.
